Nikon Canada announces J2 mirrorless camera, 11-27.5 lens, and underwater housing

Nikon Canada has announced a new Nikon 1 J2 mirrorless camera today, along with an 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, and an underwater housing. The new camera features a higher resolution LCD screen, a new Creative Mode offering a variety of photo effects, and a metallic body available in a few new colours. The resolution stays the same at 10.1MP and it uses the same Expeed 3 processor, so it appears to be an incremental upgrade rather than an entirely new camera. [full story]

Renowned Cape Breton photographer dies

Celebrated photographer Carol Kennedy of North River, Cape Breton, has died after a struggle with cancer. She was 67 years old. Kennedy was a tireless supporter of Cape Breton culture and took the portraits of many of Nova Scotia’s finest entertainers. In 1997, she received a nomination for a Juno Award for CD Photography, and in 1998, received the East Coast Music Award for Best CD/Cassette Graphic Design. [full story]
