In The Dollhouse: Dina Goldstein imagines the troubled relationship of dolls

In Dina Goldstein’s previous photo project, Fallen Princesses, she placed fairy tale characters in modern day scenarios and imagined what their lives would be like if they hadn’t lived “happily ever after”. In her latest project the Vancouver photographer continues that theme and imagines the less than perfect lives of two dolls known as B and K. B is a super doll, the most successful doll in the world, but her partner K is grappling with his sexuality and finds himself in a loveless marriage. The meticulously crafted images reveal the couple’s struggles with their positions in the household and the eventual breakdown of their relationship.

The project began with story-boarding and then elaborate sets were built in a donated space in a Vancouver gallery. All the behind the scenes action was also captured in the video below by Lisa Wu.
