Guys in suits — Derek Shapton subverts the traditional corporate portrait

Kei Ng of Castor Design photographed by Derek Shapton

Derek Shapton has shot a lot of corporate work, including many formal portraits of employees and executives. However, on a recent shoot for Castor Design he had the opportunity to put a different spin on the traditional business portrait and subvert some the typical corporate clichés.

Brian and Kei are not particularly corporate individuals, so we thought it would be fun to take some business-style portraits and put a bit of a different spin on them. Inspired by photos of mobsters, as well as playoff hockey interviews where various battered, stitched-up goons appear on live TV wearing $5000 suits, we went into the studio with the exact same setup I use on many AR headshots and played dress-up for an afternoon. I think the results speak for themselves.

    Derek,
Never would have thought of shooting the corporate world like that. I hope you continue with very senior corporate types and lets not forget the corporate ladies.
