Hello all,
I just found this website and signed up. I had a look at some of the forums and looked at some portfolios. Quite a talented bunch you have here. I wanted to show my work and see what you have to say. I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember, but have just recently started to seriously think about getting into the field professionally. It's a tough biz to break into and I have no idea where to start. I know the best thing to do is practice, so that's where I'll start. If anybody knows of any events or photography-related happenings in the Calgary area, please let me know...That's it for now, ciao.Derek Podlubny-Portfolio

Hey Derek,

Checked out your site. *Couple of comments:
1. The web work shows up pretty small on a 1024x768 monitor, it's tough to see what is really going on in some of the examples. Actually, with the web and the photography some of the images are a bit small. *As well, I would offer a link in a new page so people can go and check out the sites you show on your page and see them live.

2. *Don't sell yourself short. *I saw on your post that you said you wanted to get into photography, but didn't know where to start. *After seeing your fashion stuff on your site, you could have fooled me. Seriously, I think your work is great, and if you are a photography newbie, it doesn't show. *

Keep shooting and promoting your work. *Your photos look great...

Alastair.

Thanks for the feedback Alastair. It'd great to get positive feedback from a professional, makes me feel like I'm heading in the right direction. It's been up a while now, and I can see that people have read the post...but there are not many replies. I need more feedback, if anyone looks at my site, tell me what you think! If you're not a member, it only takes a few minutes to sign up and participate in the forums.

Thumbs up

I had my comments ready and then read Allistair's post.

The two key point raised by him (Sizes of the images on higher resolution screens; links to websites you've worked on) were my number one and two observations.

The second point is probably most helpful. I know that, as a visitor to the site, I would have visited your website folio links. So maybe it's something to consider.

Other than that: Great navigation.

I may have just missed it, but I couldn't find reference to your working area. Would be helpful to add a bio.
