Camera strap clips
I preferred the kinds of on-body strap lugs they used to have in "the old days". By that I mean a small ring protruding from the camera through which was a small metal triangle thingee. The camera strap had clips that would spring fasten onto the triangle. Easy to quickly remove. All the camera bodies I own now (Olympus 4/3s) use straps that have to be threaded through a loop on the body then threaded through an on-strap tightening belt-loop-like plastic thing. These simply take too long to undo.
Does anyone sell adapters that I can leave permanently on the body, but that have metal rings at one end through which I can spring clip my old-style straps? I live in Ottawa, and my local Henry's did not stock anything. Seems to me this should be simple to find. Thanks. |

Do your back a favor, toss the original straps and pick up something like a Black Rapid

I have the Black rapid and it is wonderful. Unfortunately, it screws on the camera by the tripod socket at the bottom of the camera, which means I have to remove the strap every time I want to use my tripod, which is quite a bit, since the plate has no screw holes at the bottom. So I'm also looking for a way to quickly disconnect either the Black Rapid or the original strap while keeping my tripod plate on at all times. I tried some clips from Canadian Tire that were small enough to fit the 'triangle thingy' but they were too small for the weight of the camera and zoom lens. Broke twice. I guess that they now use straps because of breakage issues with clips, hooks and whatever else.
Good luck |

The Domke Gripper Straps are the closest things I could think of. You'd have to buy the whole strap, but they have short leads that stay attached to the camera and can be disconnected from the strap with a metal quick release. ![]() Domke products are also hard to find in Canada now, so you might have to order it from B&H or someplace in the states as well. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...era_Strap.html Good luck with your search. Camera clips
Thanks for the info Andrew and Kenneth. Unfortunately it won't work on my Vanguard plate.
I'll probably get the plate machined so that I can screw the strap on/off quickly off the plate on camera. Thanks! Last edited by Jacques Fortier : Aug 5/12 at 02:17 PM. |

There's also the new Carry Speed straps that are similar to the Black Rapid, but allow you to use a quick release plate and the strap at the same time.
