![]() Yes I am a bird photographer. I use a Coolpix 990 which I refer to as a "dinky toy" and a Swarovski spotting scope. I simply hand hold my camera to the scope which is on a tripod and shoot. I took me a few hours to figure out how to change my time zone for these forums but hey I did it! |

Well, my first impression is that he looks like he had a little trouble with his hair gel that morning. *Who does your hair and makeup on these shoots, anyway? *
But seriously, I'm not up on the subtleties of bird photography (except for my relatives, of course) but it looks to me like a great image. *It's dynamic, it has nice context, the light is beautiful, and the subject was, I'm sure, not very easy to pose. *I had no idea that one could pull off a shot of such quality with a 990 (you said 'handheld', do you mean just hold the camera up to the eyepiece??) and a spotting scope. *What a great idea. *I'll have to try that... Alastair, yup, just hold the camera to the eyepiece and you have a focal length equivalent to 2300mm. I've been doing this for about a year and a half. There's a bunch of us around the world into digiscoping. It's well suited for bird photography because you can get soooo close.

Hi Ann Cook,
I visited your site and think the work is terrific. A comment about your link-bar, though. I am a fan of the DHTML link bar, but one of the flaws designers need to keep in mind is the limitations of length. Your "Species" list of links is too long for most browsers, meaning the options drop below the screen when "Species" is selected. If there is a way to both scroll and select, I haven't figured it out. Might want to break that list into two or three different lists in order to make visiting the links (at the bottom of the current list) accessible. Just a thought. The design of the site is great. The images are exceptional. |
