Anyone here use Rip software?

I've just recently purchased an epson 4000 and don't mind the prints straight out of the box, but do notice that the B&W's aren't what they could be, and that the some of the colours could use a little tweaking. Being a complete rookie to the inkjet world I was wondering if there was any suggestions out there.
