In today’s behind the scenes video, expat Canadian photographer Joey L describes a photo shoot with Eric Nally, the lead singer of the band Foxy Shazam. The shoot took place on a rooftop in New York on a grey, cloudy day, and included a flaming microphone and some DIY lighting modifiers.
Joey’s camera gear for this shot included a Canon 1DS Mark III, Canon 16-35mm 2.8L, Mamiya 645DF with a Phase One P65+ digital back, and a 80mm f/2.8 lens. In the video, Joey also discusses why he chose the Canon for the action shot and the Phase One for the portraits. The lighting used for the shoot included two Profoto 7b power packs with ProB heads and zoom reflectors, one white acrylic globe, and some 1⁄2 CTO orange cine filters.
